Cycling Videos (UK)

I am a keen virtual and IRL cycling enthusiast, I use applications like BigRingVR (BRVR) to enhance the experience during the notorious Scottish climate downturns. The problem with BRVR is it has very few UK videos and none of Scotland and none of any length in terms of hours. I get maximum engagement from re-riding my favourite rides in Scotland but none are available. The archive I have created is located on Cloud Storage and is readily available to like minded enthusiasts. My particular preference is for rides of about 40 miles with a height gain of at least 2000ft. I have some shorter rides also listed.

I did this for my own use and that of friends, I had little ambition to share as early attempts, the quality was some what lacking. However my attempts are getting better now, with enhanced technology and it is a shame not to try and share them with like minded enthusiasts and get feedback on ride quality.

If you want to ride on of these virtual rides in this archive send me an email or a Facebook message indicating the one you like, I will send you a link, and you can tell me afterwards how you get on. Please bear in mind the files are between 5 - 20Gbytes and can take a while to download. The reason I have limited access in this way is to control the traffic to my Cloud Service and gain feedback on individual rides. Updates to these files take place on a regular basis particularly the .gpx files as the altitude data sometimes does not reflect the video perception and when I fix that I repost the ride. These rides were filmed with a GoPro 7 with image stabilisation at 1080p and are of reasonable quality but not the quality of the rides on BRVR unfortunately.

Here is a summery of those currently available in the archive  as of February 2021. Please use correct email link as it keys me into giving access to the correct file.

  1. Hi Alastair! I'd love to try one of your local routes on my trainer. I've never been to Scotland, so anyone will do, but if you have a favorite one, in terms of quality and or scenery, I'll ride that one. I have a fast Internet connection and plenty of free disk space on my PC, so size is not a problem. Looking forward to cruising the Scottish countryside!
